Payroll & Compensation

Pay Periods

For full-time, temporary and part- time salaried (seasonal or otherwise) employees, paychecks are issued bi-weekly (every other week). For all employees, a statement of earnings is produced with each paycheck indicating hours worked (if hourly), rates paid, gross pay, deductions, and net wages and sent to each employee automatically by our payroll processing client. All employees, unless preferred otherwise, are paid via direct deposit.

For hourly employees, hours are to be tracked in Gusto. You will be set up in Gusto prior to your first day of work. The hours tracked in the app will be used in calculating your total pay in each pay period.

Payroll is run on the Monday immediately following the closing of a pay period and paychecks are received on the Thursday after the closing of each pay period.

All payroll related questions or concerns should be directed to the Chief Operating Officer.

Compensation Program and Annual Review

SPACE is dedicated to paying its employees equitably and fairly for their labor, and encourages employees to discuss desired pay increases openly and honestly with their supervisors and/or executive leadership. SPACE will make efforts to apply pay increases for Full-time and Part-time employees annually, when budget considerations allow. Salary transparency is an important part of SPACE’s value system, all pay increases will be made based on the salary tiers laid out below:

  • Hourly Employees are paid starting at $15/ Hr and move up from there

  • Associate level employees are paid between $55,000 and $60,000 annually

  • Manager level employees are paid between $60,000 and $75,000 annually

  • Director level employees are paid between $76,000 and $100,000 annually

  • Executive Leadership employees are paid $100,000 annually or above.

If a pay increase is approved in the annual budget process, the increase will be communicated to the employee and made effective the first of the new fiscal year, following the budget approval process and following each employee’s performance review.

Garnishment/Child Support and Tax Liens

When an employee's wages are garnished by a court order or other governmental agency such as the IRS or a state tax office, SPACE on Ryder Farm is legally bound to withhold the amount indicated in the garnishment order from the employee's paycheck. SPACE will, however, honor federal and applicable state guidelines that protect a certain amount of an employee's income from being subject to garnishment. SPACE will provide a letter to the employee, notifying them of the garnishment amount and stating that the garnishment will not be removed until a letter from the IRS is in hand.

Payroll Deductions

SPACE will deduct Federal, State, Social Security, Medicare and Local (if applicable) taxes as well as any other statutorily required deduction from an employee’s gross pay. Deductions for benefits or other allowed deductions by law will be allowed with written authorization by the employee. No other deductions from an employee’s gross pay, particularly those not allowed by law, will be allowed.
