THE CAMPAIGN TO SAVE AMERICA AND ROCK THE SHIT OUT OF THIS BITCH, a political rally of musical proportions, is a rock musical and actual campaign fronted by 27-year-old Matt and his run for Congress. The story centers on Matt’s humble beginnings growing up in Chicago in foster homes and the streets as he makes his way through college to eventually run for Congress, why he’s the best candidate to lead the next generation, and how “all the allegations against him are indeed true.” The music borrows from punk, indie, traditional folk, backwater blues, and pop and is heavily informed by ‘90s grunge. The musical fuses traditional narrative with political rally and, of course, rock concert. Matt Citron’s recent work includes The Henry Box Brown Play by Tony Kushner (music with Mark Wing-Davey) which had a premiere production at NYU’s Graduate Acting program where he received his M.F.A. Matthew-Lee Erlbach is a Puffin Grant recipient whose work as an actor/writer has been seen at Sundance, Nickelodeon, WWE, Comedy Central, Off-Bway, and regionally.

IN WATERMELON SUGAR, a new play about utopian dreams, death & tigers. A beautiful ensemble of theatre makers from around the world is devising a new
adaptation of Richard Brautigan’s IN WATERMELON SUGAR, a strange and dazzling meditation on the imperfection of human endeavors. Set in a world where the sun shines a different color every day; the houses are made of watermelon sugar; and each inhabitant is marked by dreams of gorgeous and terrible talking tigers, this story cracks open the myth of an American utopia. With the gift of space from SPACE at Ryder Farm, Christopher Burris, Megan E Carter, Pia Furtado, Tina Mitchell and Kristen Sieh will spend five days developing the novel’s text into a play.

MAIZY: A FABLE, by Ben Lewis
Maizy is a satire of Hollywood and the entertainment industry set in a mythical world of fairies. There are several scenes of the play that call for fantastical theatrical moments, such as when a character takes flight. Mr. Lewis will take time at SPACE to explore these moments, and continue writing.
