What is your name and where are you from?
Kate: My name is Kate Blomquist, I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And now I currently live in Brooklyn, New York.

What is the project you’re working on at SPACE?
At SPACE I wanted to focus on a different part of my practice. I’m a painter mainly, I work with oil paint on aluminum and I wanted to play with paper while I was here. It’s a bit easier to move paper around rather than giant sheets of aluminum. I’m experimenting with color and texture and absorbency.

Where have you been spending most of your time at SPACE?
I’ve been holed up in the chicken coop. It’s a great space here on the farm. Just kinda making a mess and going out and hanging out with the sheep.

What’s coming up next for you and your project?
When I go back to New York I actually have to get a piece together to help support Regina Rex gallery. They’re doing a fundraiser this summer and I’m excited to be able to be donating a work to them.

If you were reincarnated as a farm animal, what farm animal would you be and why?
If I were to be reincarnated as a farm animal, clearly I would be a baby donkey. I would stay a baby because that’s when they’re the cutest.
