The Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (AIPR) supports countries around the world, through education, training, and technical assistance, to develop or strengthen national mechanisms for the prevention of genocide and other mass atrocities. With offices in New York, Buenos Aires (Argentina), Kampala (Uganda), and Oświęcim (Poland), AIPR aims to encourage states to cooperate through regional and international arrangements to advance prevention. Through its international programming, AIPR has trained hundreds of government officials and given them the tools, knowledge, and skills to act as effective agents of prevention.
What projects did you work on at SPACE?
AIPR has returned multiple times, most recently in August of 2015, to SPACE on Ryder Farm to hold its annual employee retreat. The setting serves as the perfect context for gathering staff (many of whom work in dense urban centers like New York City) together to discuss the state of our organization and to strengthen relationships between colleagues living and working on different sides of the planet.
