SPACE had its first official retreat group up to the farm September 11th through the 13th.

Founders of Dramatic Adventure Theatre, Jesse Baxter and Mary K. Redington (along with DAT company members) conducted their company planning retreat at SPACE. DAT’s mission statement is: Dramatic Adventure Theatre provides the opportunity for artists to perform around the world, to explore the unknown and the familiar, and to become intimately involved with distant communities in order to build a platform where ideas, talent, and original works can be shared.

DAT’s weekend on Ryder Farm consisted of planning, brainstorming, good conversation, working on the farm, a dip in Peach Lake, group-made meals, and one heck of a bonfire. I cannot articulate how thrilling it was to have such an inspired, curious, and motivated company as our inaugural retreat group. If more groups like DAT make the trip upstate, SPACE will be one lucky organization.

In related news, congratulations to Jesse and Mary on their recent marriage! You two are quite a special pair!
